Birthday Cards

Hi Everyone

Gosh, what a busy week I have had although not many new things to show for it.  I spent most of the week checking my stock for any damage and repairs that may be needed prior to three weekends of fairs.

The first was this weekend just past which was for two days of the Southern Agricultural Show, so if you happened to drop in I hope that you found something of interest in our tent if not at my stall.

The next will be this Saturday coming - 5th August at St Catharine’s Church Hall in Port Erin, and the third will be at the Royal Agricultural Show on the  11th & 12th of August.

So, all that being said, I have managed to create some very simple cards for friends who will be celebrating birthdays in the forthcoming weeks.

Don’t forget to let me know what you have been making.

Old Nail Polish

Good Morning

On this beautiful sunny day it seems apt that I have been working with some shiny pressed blanks that I had in my stash.  I wanted to do something interesting with them and, having used this technique once before (and loved the result), I have used it again.

Old nail polish is applied to the spaces in the metal blanks, you need to let it completely dry between colours, and take things slowly, but I think the results are well worth it.  If you try it, please let me know how it works for you and I would love to see some pictures.

I will be at the Southern Agricultural Show next weekend on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July, if you are in the area call in and say Hi.

Don’t forget to let me know what you have been making.

Bases of Flowers

Hi Everyone

This last week has been busy but fun, I have been making vases of flowers - paper of course! The three vases are filled with Buttercups, Anemones & Cosmo Flowers.

The flowers are more complex then they look, with many layers and each layer is inked to give it more depth and dimension, then of course they are all shaped.  This is a pattern that I found on the Dreaming Tree website - one of my favourites.

I will be at the Southern Agricultural Show on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July, if you are in the area call in and say Hi.

Don’t forget to let me know what you have been making.

Fuchsia Sunshine

Good Morning

It has been a bit so lovely and sunny over the last week that I decided to work with colour rather then choose a shape of gemstone.  So I have chosen fuchsia and here are the pieces that I have made.

The first is a suite made with clear quartz squares and fuchsia chalcedony; I was aiming for a floating feeling with these pieces.  The 2nd is kumihimo and fuchsia agate, you just have to love this big chunk of agate and the impact it has.

Don’t forget to let me know what you have been making.

Mum's Birthday

Hi everyone

This last week I have made my Mother’s birthday gift and card. The gift is a glasses chain in lovely fuchsia round 4mm wire.  I took me twice as long as I thought it would but I am very pleased with the end result and hope that when it arrives Mum will like it too.

If you called in at Port Erin on Saturday 1th July, I hope you had a great time and found something you liked to take home with you.

Don’t forget to let me know what you have been making.
