Stretchy Bracelets

Happy Christmas

We are out of time for this year and I have been making some last minute gifts for the Christmas crackers in the form of stretchy bracelets.  I have made an assortment so I hope there is one that you will like to wear.

This is my last post for 2019 and I would like to wish you all a happy and healthy festive season.  I hope to hear from you all in 2020 with news of what you have all be making in the break.

Christmas Jewellery 2019

Good morning

This was my last week to make things for the final Christmas Fair of the year, so I made some festive jewellery.

Two reindeer necklaces, one just on a chain and the other with lots of sparkle but, most of all, I made lots of Christmas ear rings which mostly made me smile a great deal.

I hope your festive preparations are going well and if you joined me at the Douglas Christmas Market then I hope you found something to take home with you.

Christmas Cards 2019

Good morning

It’s that time of year when you need to be posting your Christmas cards, so this week I have been franticly making my cards to meet the posting deadline.

I settled on two types; the first are pop up slider cards which are great fun to make and reasonably quick once you get the hang of them.

The second are shadow cards and they are also quick to put together but much harder
and more time consuming to cut.

I hope you think they are fun too and, by the way, this weekend is my last craft fair for the year. So if you are in the neighbourhood then do try and drop in - I will be at the Douglas Christmas Fair, Chester Street on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December. I hope to see you there.

Christmas Day Jewellery

Happy December

Gosh, not long now until Christmas so the window to make jewellery for the big day is closing in on us.

This week I made my Christmas lunch jewellery and I love it, big and bold but not too heavy.  The green stone is agate and I have paired it with gold wire balls on green silk to be light and wearable.

Let me know what you think.

My next Christmas Fairs will be at St Catharine’s Church Hall in Port Erin on Saturday 7th December, and then at Douglas Christmas Fair, Chester Street on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December. I hope to see you there.

Christmas Tree

Good morning

This week I have made a table centre for the Christmas table.  It is a pattern from Dreaming Tree (https://www.3dsvg.com/) and it’s not a difficult project but it is fiddley. Just take your time and it is worth the effort, or at least I think so.

Let me know what you think.

My next Christmas Fairs will be at The Laxey Working Men’s Institute on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2019, and then at Douglas Christmas Fair, Chester Street on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December. I hope to see you there.

Line Art

Hi Every one
Can less really be more?

This week the blog has been taken over once more by my partner in craft, Fuzzy Designs, who has been busy with these creations. I’ll let him explain.

I’m sure most people reading this will have been given something which made you think: I’m not quite sure what to do with that but it’s definitely worth hanging onto.

For me, it was these frames which each came with two panes of glass, and that got me thinking about some artwork with a possible 3D effect.

The horse came first and I obtained a 3D effect by layering pearl glass paint with different colours on the front and back of both panes. I liked the end result but wondered if I could strip things back even further and still keep some depth to the finished piece.

The goat came next and I got the depth I was looking for by simply painting grass on all four sides of the glass so the goat looks like it’s standing in the grass. Happy with the grass effect, I finally decided to see how much I could strip back the animal and decided to go for a rabbit. A few strokes of the brush was all it took and I had a rabbit sitting in a field! So, yes, less really can be more!

My next Christmas Fairs will be at The Laxey Working Men’s Institute on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2019 & than at Douglas Christmas, Chester Street on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December..  I hope to see you there.

Christmas Gift Cards

Good morning

After writing my Christmas gift list, I realised that I, like a lot of people, give out a reasonable amount of gift cards - however, the packaging for the gift cards themselves is usually very disappointing. So I set out to find something that would make the recipient feel like they actually have a gift to unwrap and found these great patterns by Jamie Cripps. They are so much fun to make and I am sure whoever receives them will love them.

My next Christmas Fair will be at The Laxey Working Men’s Institute on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2019.

Let me know what you are making for your Christmas this year.

Autumnal Necklace & Ear Rings

Hi Everyone

This last week I have made an autumnal necklace and ear rings out of cappuccino agate and mustard shell teardrops. The agate has been rosary linked and the mustard shell has been made into flowers, which I think lifts the piece and makes it feel very autumnal.

I will be at St John’s Church Hall on Saturday November 6th, and then at Laxey Working Men’s Institute on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2019.

Let me know what you are making for your Christmas this year.

Halloween Treats

Morning Everyone

Can you believe it? On Thursday this week it is All Hallows eve, and I have made more of my lovely scary nightlight bottles.  Inside we have a pumpkin, a haunted house a grave yard and a ghost.  They don’t look much by day but after dark they look spooktacular.

Don’t forget I will be in Port Erin next Saturday 2nd November and also St John’s church Hall on Saturday November 6th.

So let me know what you are making, and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

Christmas Wine Bottle Wrap

Morning Everyone

I am finally starting to feel very Christmassy so, looking through patterns and the internet, I came across this fun wine bottle wrap which I think is perfect for that last minute gift for a party over the Christmas period.

I don’t know how you couldn’t be smiling after seeing these fun Santas.

Don’t forget I will be in Port Erin on Saturday 2nd November.  Let me know what you are making, and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

Amethyst Set

Good morning

This last week I made a suite of amethyst jewellery: necklace, ear rings and ring.  I have used some silver plated bead caps to accentuate the shape and colour of the stones, which I think works very well.

This would be ideal for a Christmas gift so I hope that you like it as much as I do.

Don’t forget I will be in Port Erin on Saturday 2nd November.  Let me know what you are making, and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

2019 Bike Christmas Card

Hi, looks like autumn is here!

I have been thinking that it is time to get moving on things for all the Christmas fairs that I have signed up to this year.

With that in mind the first thing to get done is the 2019 bike Christmas card. This year it is a Honda moped (well, sort of) which is fun and hand drawn by Fuzzy Designs (my partner in craft). These cards are always very popular and for the first time I am selling these via my blog if you would like one, or some. They are £1.50 each or five for £6.00, this includes and envelope. Postage is of course extra, but they are very light to post.

I will be in Port Erin on Saturday 2nd November.  Let me know what you are making, and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

Purple & Pearls

Morning Everyone

I just love genuine freshwater cultured pearls and have been accumulating a few different colours so, when I bought some beautiful dyed agate recently, I wanted to put the two together and these are the results.

The purple dyed rectangular agate has been encased in pink flat wire and hung from purple chain, both at the neckline and as a tassel at the bottom of the stone.  I have then linked small pearls in both pink and purple to the tassel chain for what I think is a gorgeous necklace.

I will be in Port Erin on Saturday 5th October this weekend so if you are around please call in and say Hi. As always, do let me know what you are making and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

Copper Heart

Hi Everyone

For a while I have wanted to try my hand with some copper sheet; however I found it a bit daunting.  So, as a compromise I purchased some pre-cut copper and decided to play with a heart shape.

As you will see below in the photo, I have split the heart partly through the centre and rolled back the sides to show the beautiful blue onyx drop.  I love the results, it looks both rustic and edgy to me - just what I was hoping for.

Let me know what stuff you are making and if you have any opinions on this or any of my other makes.

Birthday Cards

Good morning

This week has been a catch up with birthdays looming on the horizon, so here is a small selection of the ones that are due to be posted in the next week or so.  I like doing these very much for friends as they are made with someone specific and I am always very pleased when they make the recipient smile.

Let me know what you have been making as the nights start to draw in.
