Chip Rings

Good Morning

Last week I made a few small items, which was fun.  Sometimes you just want to make small things that can be finished in one sitting.

I saw a demonstration on making rings using gemstone chips and was intrigued to try them, so here are three that I have made. They are rose, lemon quartz and neon apatite.  I love how they look and are very comfortable to wear.

I also made a pair of ear rings from some beautiful handmade silk braid with silver shell pearls.  I am so pleased with the results and will be trying lots more ideas using braid and other things.

Let me know what you are making or what you think of my creations.

Cabochons

Hello

Over the past week I have been thinking about alternative ways to set cabochons.  After looking at what felt like hundreds of pictures, in lots of different mediums, I found the following two which I think have turned out rather well.

The first is a red dyed onyx piece which I have captured in gold plated copper wire. I am very pleased with the results, it shows off the stone well and the back is very different and fun. The second is also onyx, this one is dyed purple, and is hanging from a purple wire spiral with a purple and black kumihimo braid.

It would be great to hear from you about either what you are making or what you think of my makes.

Winter Necklace

Good Morning

This week, I decided it was time to make a winter necklace and ear rings.  I started with some pale blue quartz shards because they look like ice to me, and I matched them with some small chips of moonstone. The combination is stunning and, as you move, the moonstone reflects the blue from the quartz and just looks great against the skin.

I know this is just threading, but the gem stones do make it look spectacular while being a simple and stunning creation.

It would be great to hear from you about either what you are making or what you think of my makes.

Finishing Christmas

Happy New Year

I hope that you have all had a happy holiday break and are feeling refreshed to start the New Year.

This week is about showing you the final things I made for Christmas in 2018.  I had some gifts which needed to be wrapped and I up-cycled some boxes for them, so nice.

I also decorated some plastic baubles which were for sale in my friend’s shop and I think they were really lovely.  I used three designs in five colours so they could be mixed and matched.  Although for Christmas tree decoration, the designs I used were a stag, a mermaid and a fairy – just to break from the usual Santas and snowmen! I hope you like them too.
