Summer Colours

 Hi Everyone

I have made a necklace and ear rings with multi coloured Magnesite wheels and rounds which contain all the colours of summer, they are also light weight and easy to wear. I used pretty blue thread which has been knotted in sections for the fastening, so the necklace has nothing metallic in it for those that have metal allergies.

Let me know what you think.

Birthday Shell

Hi morning

Today, I would like to show you a necklace I made in early December for my sister’s birthday.

My sister lives in Australia and it is summer there at the moment, so I wanted to make something light and fun to wear in the heat.

I settled on a wire necklace frame in silver and navy with shell flowers, the petals are made from long slithers in blue and red, with the centres of shell rounds in blue and green.

I really like the finished necklace and my sister did too, so let me know what you think.

Rose Quartz Pineapples

 Good morning

I know that it is still Winter (in all its glory!) but I have started to think about Spring.  So, that being said, I have been using some lovely rose quartz carved into pineapples.

My first design was a necklace made with the rose quartz pineapples, ruby zoisite and red garnet, and some ear rings to match.  The second is just one rose quartz pineapple on a 925 sterling silver chain - plain but very pretty.

As always, do let me know your thoughts and what you’re making.

Spanner Art

 Hi Everyone

Spanner Art is back and these three pieces were all created from a large box full of spanners donated by a friend who was having a garage clear out.

Although both the skull and spanner pieces are fairly simple creations, finding the right spanners was anything but. They had to be of similar length with no visible markings or brand names – you’d be surprised how few spanners met those criteria. Once four suitable specimens for the bones had been found, it was a pretty straightforward process of cleaning, polishing and painting them. A really large spanner was chopped apart for the skulls. Two basic frames were made and given some suitable paint – job done!

The third piece was even more simple, I had just put the spanner on the board to get an idea of possible shapes and designs, and the wings/ halo motif popped into my head. If only all my creations could be visualised that easily!

As always let me know your thoughts and makings.
