Hi Everyone
Spanner Art is back and these three pieces
were all created from a large box full of spanners donated by a friend who was
having a garage clear out.
Although both the skull and spanner pieces
are fairly simple creations, finding the right spanners was anything but. They
had to be of similar length with no visible markings or brand names – you’d be
surprised how few spanners met those criteria. Once four suitable specimens for
the bones had been found, it was a pretty straightforward process of cleaning,
polishing and painting them. A really large spanner was chopped apart for the
skulls. Two basic frames were made and given some suitable paint – job done!
The third piece was even more simple, I had
just put the spanner on the board to get an idea of possible shapes and
designs, and the wings/ halo motif popped into my head. If only all my
creations could be visualised that easily!
As always let me know your thoughts and
makings.
